Mall Store Bailout
I have my first line in a College Humor video.
Long, long shoot.
Also, I know that whole monologue by heart. Ask for it some time.
I think Pat knew this monologue by heart a long, long time ago.
One of the longest shoots of my life for many reasons, but I think its a cutie patootie. Everyone did great.

Beirut!
I desperately wish I was at this party. Love Beirut.
11:22, we will be married.

Web Site Story, written and directed by me. A tribute to my three big loves: film, theater, and the internet. Also produced by Eva and shot by Vince with a huge and talented cast. Digg it.
Jeff Rubin, king of puns, thought of the title. The opening Google Maps shots are analogous with the rooftop shots that open the “West Side Story” movie. ”The Skateboard Escape” from Back to...
I've Started A Film Festival
nerdology:
I’ve been thinking long and hard about this and, I’m jumping in head first. I have started the first 9:16 film festival. Yes, that is a tall frame. I’ve been thinking a lot about the new iPhone and the video record and decided that we need to break in this tall frame format.
There are two categories here, One Shot and 5 Minutes. One shot is, one shot. As if you shot it on your...

Gale’s latest
This one was a blast to direct and flesh out with Mike, Street and Ben. My favorite shot is the dolly as Beatles and crazed fans run to camera.

Dutch West. they funny.
I was pleasantly surprised to see this DW golden oldie posted this morning. Stars Vince, Elaine, and my really subtle voice over.
samreich:
“Spoiler Alert,” directed by me. Also written by Dan and Sarah, produced by Ben, and shot by Vince.
Goals: get a ton of coverage in a short amount of time; establish direct relationships between shots (i.e. the zoom into the button and out of the sign at 0:15, the whip pan at 0:35, the mid-zoom cut at 1:04). We rehearsed the hell out of the final beat with Chuck and Billy in order...

Wes Anderson on Writing

stayforthecredits: “I use little notebooks. I write out everything longhand first, then I type it into the computer. Back when Owen and I were working together, he would write in longhand also. Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic are all in small notebooks like this…[Anderson presents a pocket-sized notebook, and flips through the pages showing carefully sketched...

“improv is really part of the job now, it’s expected [in comedy]”- Harold Ramis on ‘Year One’
the best part of this discussion is a) Harold was interviewed by Josh Ruben and Vincent Peone and b) we have about a half dozen more videos coming out with Harold on Directing / Screenwriting / Knots / and possible a discussion on a super huge sequel? possibly.
Here it is! Thank you...
I got a new video coming soon babies thank yie

Dr. Manhattan’s Pants, written by Pat, Ben, and Jeff, produced by Ben, shot by Vince, edited by Matt, directed (and co-starring) me. This was my dream cast. Luke Scholl as the perfect Manhattan, Charlie McWade as Rorschach, Veronika Dominczyk as Silk Spectre, Thomas Middleditch as Ozymandias. Effects turned out GREAT.

Lin Manuel Miranda from “In the Heights” came by to star in this Hardly Working with some of “Freestyle Love Supreme.” They don’t give Tony’s away for nothing.
I was too star struck to introduce myself when he was there, but did manage to sneak into the rap crowd (see very far back, center, jumping erratically)
Every Week on Entourage, written by Gil Ozeri and Adam Pally, produced by Eva, edited (and narrated!) by Matt, shot by Vince, directed by me. This excellent cast was composed mostly of UCB dudes and marks my second time working with SNL’s Bobby Moynihan.

Excitement abounds
Vince and I are interviewing Harold Ramis for MakingOf tomorrow.
MoMA retrospective on Tim Burton →

“Tracing the current of Burton’s visual imagination—from his earliest childhood drawings through his mature work in film—the exhibition Tim Burton will bring together over 700 examples of rarely or never-before-seen drawings, paintings, storyboards, moving-image works, puppets, maquettes, costumes, and ...
I’m starting to think being normal is strange.
Dan Meth asks us about our animal fantasies. And we answer. In cartoon form.

Produced by Eva, directed and shot by moi. A real treat being handed such a fun script by the infinitely talented Mr. Gurewtch. I too have a place in my heart for sitcoms of my generation. I’m really happy with how this one turned out. We shot at our production coordinator Steve’s house, which included a back BBQ patio. Our production manager Bennet cooked us up some mean burgers...
Honest Graduation Song, produced by Eva, shot by Vince, edited by Matt, directed by me. I cameo as Street’s douchey roommate. Fair warning: this is a tear-jerker. That girl Sarah I told you about plays Jeff’s wife.
Sarah Natochenny →
Sarah is an actress/model who did a bit part in a music video I directed recently. I’d never met her before that. She was totally cool and down-to-earth (rare for an actress/model, you know?). So happens she’s one of the most talented voice over artists I’ve ever met. She’s the voice of Pokemon’s Ash with three animated motion pictures under her belt, is multilingual,...
Check out this Hardly Working I’m in with Sarah, Dan, and Ben Schwartz. Conceived of and shot in 30 minutes.
My sister doesn’t tell me anything, specifically that she shot a music video for Sunday Afternoon in my folks’ backyard upstate and at the remains of the Overlook Hotel.
SHORT SHORTS: Watch them all! →
(via dutchwest)
All episodes of our web series SHORT SHORTS are now online. Watch them in their entirety if you like puppets, knights, and murderers.
This was an insane shoot, smack in the middle of the MTV show and CHTV’s shooting blocks. The majority of us were working full shooting days every day, but we still plowed through - the weekends were for Dutch West. One Friday night after...
That Josh Ruben sure is one CRrAAAaaAzy director!

“Pedobear Doubt Trailer,” a tribute to one of the internet’s greatest memes. Embarrassingly written by me, wonderfully directed by Josh, slyly animated by Mike Parker. Digg it.
I directed this bad boy and voice Pedobear as Philip Seymour Hoffman. Produced by Ben, shot beautifully by Vince. Enjoy, you creep!

E.T. & ME
Ever wonder what ever happened to E.T. and Elliott? Plan C answers that question.
Thanks to the ridiculously handsome Mike Parker for the animation.
Digg it!!!
Animated this for the insanely bonertastic guys at Plan-C
Oh man, I laughed out loud. Love these guys & anything E.T. is an instant watch in my book.

me directing puppets
Before Disney gives us a cease and desist, I want to show you this music video I directed. First time working with puppets (on this scale, anyhow). Written by Dan, shot by Vince, brilliant art direction by Andy Myers.
